District ATV Trail Opening At Mallory Swamp May 1

LIVE OAK, FLA., Apr. 24, 2017 – Visitors to Mallory Swamp in Lafayette County have something extra special to look forward to beginning May 1, 2017. The Suwannee River Water Management District (District) is opening approximately 38 miles of all-terrain vehicle (ATV) riding trails from May to September at the Mallory Swamp tract.

All persons operating an ATV are required to review and sign a daily special use authorization (SUA) and have that document in their possession while riding. Riders 16 years old or younger must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who is required to sign the SUA, and riders are expected to follow the rules and regulations outlined in the SUA. SUAs are available at the information kiosk in the ATV parking area.

Other recreational activities at Mallory Swamp include wildlife viewing, fishing, hunting, bicycling, hiking and horseback riding on administrative roads. The District’s conservation lands are acquired and managed for flood control, water quality protection and natural resource conservation and are open year-round to the public for recreational use.

A complete list of ATV rules and a map to Mallory Swamp are available at www.mysuwanneeriver.com/recreation under Best Recreational Opportunities. For more information, email recreation@srwmd.org.

The mission of the Suwannee River Water Management District is to protect and manage water resources using science-based solutions to support natural systems and the needs of the public.
