Important Notices

The following notices are provided to assist you in planning your visit to District lands.

CAUTION HUNTERS, Steinhatchee Springs WMA: The Suwannee River Water Management District will begin harvesting timber in the Steinhatchee Springs WMA in an area south and east of the Warbler Loop Road and west of CR 357. Prescribed Fire Activity:

The District uses prescribed burning to restore and maintain native plant communities.
This activity may produce smoke or other temporary conditions that are unpleasant or unsafe for recreational users.

Prescribed burning is scheduled on the following tracts:

  • Cuba Bay - approximate start date November 3, 2009, approximate end date November 13, 2009

The public is generally advised to avoid tracts where burning is underway. Please be aware that the location and timing of prescribed burns may change on short notice due to weather or site conditions.
