The southwest region is comprised of the Steinhatchee Rivers that begins in the wilds of Mallory Swamp and Steinhatchee Springs and winds leisurely through a flatwoods ecosystem to the Gulf of Mexico.
The region offers opportunities to fish, hunt, hike, horseback ride, and view wildlife. Excellent canoeing opportunities are available at the numerous river access points.
The southwest is a more remote and wilderness-like area. Here, access to District lands is limited due to the lack of roads and the swampy area.
